Canadian Clinical Guideline for High-Risk Drinking and Alcohol Use Disorder


A new Canadian clinical guideline for the treatment of high-risk drinking and alcohol use disorder (AUD) was published in mid-October. The guideline co-chairs, Drs. Evan Wood and Jürgen Rehm, presented an overview of the guideline's recommendations and practical tips for implementing them. The webinar covered strategies for screening and diagnosis, as well as the range of treatment options, along with the evidence behind each of these strategies.

Motivational Interviewing to Address Vaccine Hesitancy among People Who Use Drugs

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is an evidence-based counseling approach that seeks to enhance an individual's motivation for behavioral change. In terms of vaccine hesitancy, it seeks to understand an individual's perspective on vaccination and reasons for hesitancy. MI is participant-centered, goal-oriented, and collaborative. We hosted this workshop to teach key motivational interviewing skills and strategies that help navigate conversations about the COVID-19 vaccine with PWUD.
