OCRINT Annual Symposiums

Every year, OCRINT hosts an annual symposium where service providers, researchers, community members, policymakers, and people with lived experience come together and collaborate to discuss and shape the current and future direction of substance use research, priorities, and policy.

All future in-person symposiums are put on hold due to COVID.

Please note: you must be an OCRINT member, and you must register in order to attend the symposium.

Motivational Interviewing to Address COVID-19 Vaccine Hesitancy Among PWUD

This is a workshop geared towards service providers working with People Who Use Drugs (PWUD) to help support them in having conversations about the COVID-19 vaccine. We developed this workshop out of our qualitative study that explored barriers and facilitators to COVID-19 vaccination among PWUD. Motivational Interviewing (MI) is an evidence-based counselling approach that seeks to enhance an individual's motivation for behavioural change. In terms of vaccine hesitancy, it seeks to understand an individual's perspective on vaccination and reasons for hesitancy. This workshop was hosted online on Thursday June 15th, 2023, at 12:00PM EDT.
