National CRISM Meeting
The CRISM Annual National Executive Meeting will be held in Toronto, Ontario on November 12th and 13th, 2024. This meeting will bring together CRISM members, leadership, advisory board members, stakeholders and funders to discuss CRISM priorities and share updates on work to date. As part of this endeavor, we will also be hosting a pre-conference 1.5 day workshop (on November 10th and 11th) where we will bring a broad, diverse, and inclusive panel of experts from across the country to participate in a Multi-Criteria-Decision-Analysis group decision-making technique to rank the relative harms of 20 commonly used psychoactive substances in Canada, in line with international studies that have completed similar drug ranking studies.
OCRINT Annual Symposiums
Every year, OCRINT hosts an annual symposium where service providers, researchers, community members, policymakers, and people with lived experience come together and collaborate to discuss and shape the current and future direction of substance use research, priorities, and policy.
OCRINT will be hosting a symposium in the near future; more details to come. Please note: you must be an OCRINT member, and you must register in order to attend the symposium.
Motivational Interviewing to Address COVID-19 Vaccine Hesitancy Among PWUD
This workshop was geared towards service providers working with People Who Use Drugs (PWUD) to help support them in having conversations about the COVID-19 vaccine. We developed this workshop out of our qualitative study with 78 PWUD from across Canada that explored barriers and facilitators to COVID-19 vaccination. Motivational Interviewing (MI) is an evidence-based counselling approach that seeks to enhance an individual's motivation for behavioural change. In terms of vaccine hesitancy, it seeks to understand an individual's perspective on vaccination and reasons for hesitancy. This workshop was hosted online on Thursday June 15th, 2023, at 12:00PM EDT.
